This course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is the authority responsible for the accreditation of professional ICT education programs in Australia. The ACS is also a signatory to the Seoul Accord (). The Accord signatories accord mutual recognition to their respective accreditation schemes. Graduates are eligible to become an Associate Member of the Society immediately and a full Professional Member after they have been certified as a Certified Technologist or Certified Professional and satisfy the Society that they have acquired the Core Body of Knowledge through demonstrated equivalence and adhere to the ACS Code of Ethics.

However, the course is accredited as a whole course and the accreditation may not apply when students are granted credit(s) or exemption(s) by the institution. Completion of an AQF level 7 bachelor degree from this or another university; or

Other qualifications or practical experience recognised by the Dean, College of Science and Engineering as equivalent to the above.

Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 2 Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy or have successfully completed an AQF 8 qualification from ÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û within the previous two (2) years.

Supplementary exam for final subject

A student who has failed a single subject towards the award in their final teaching period and who gained 40% or more of the marks for that subject may be granted a supplementary examination in that subject. However if that subject is required for accreditation, then the criteria specified by that accreditation will apply.

Eligibility

Students may apply for a credit transfer for previous tertiary study or informal and non-formal learning in accordance with the Credit Transfer Procedure

Credit may be granted for the following:

  • An AQF level 7 qualification in a cognate discipline - 12 credit points

  • An AQF level 8 qualification in a cognate discipline - up to 24 credit points (dependent on volume of learning)

  • An AQF level 8 qualification in a non-cognate discipline - 12 credit points

  • Relevant employment experience where the applicant has a minimum of 4 years full-time equivalent professional post-degree work experience in a management, leadership or supervisory level in information and communication sectors; or be eligible for a member grade status of a relevant professional organization; and demonstrable effective management experience relating to information and communication technologies – up to 12 credit points

Cognate disciplines: Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or other disciplines where students will have completed study relating to information and communication technologies.

Currency

Credit will be granted only for studies completed in the 4 years prior to the commencement of this course.

Expiry

Credit gained for any subject shall be cancelled 12 years after the date of the examination upon which the credit is based if, by then, the student has not completed this course.

Other restrictions

Studies and/or professional experience undertaken to fulfil the entry requirements to JCU awards may not be used for credit.
