Course pre-requisites

Completion of an AQF level 7 bachelor degree in a relevant health discipline, from this or another university and two years of relevant postgraduate experience; or

Other qualifications recognised by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Academy as equivalent to the above; or

Submission, as an exceptional case, of other evidence of professional and academic attainments, including employment for a minimum of five years in health-related activities.

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.  In assessing applications the following will be considered: prior academic performance and prior relevant work experience.

Minimum English language proficiency requirements

Applicants of non-English speaking backgrounds must meet the English language proficiency requirements of Band 2Schedule II of the JCU Admissions Policy.

Course learning outcomes

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate of Aeromedical Retrieval will be able to:

  1. Integrate and apply specialist knowledge in the discipline of aeromedical retrievals within the depth of Australian and International health care, specific to the pre-hospital and secondary retrieval environment
  2. Review, analyse, consolidate and process information, data and evidence to undertake clinical assessment, management and evaluation of the person requiring aeromedical retrieval
  3. Communicate theoretical propositions, methodologies, conclusions and professional decisions through advanced literacy and numeracy skills to specialist and non-specialist audiences
  4. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for continuing professional development requirements based on reflection on current skills, knowledge and attitudes and their application to the specialty of aeromedical retrieval
