About the Research Division

The Research Division plays a pivotal role in the University by providing leadership to the direction of research, developing and implementing research policy, identifying and fostering research strength, and promoting and coordinating collaboration with government, industry, publicly funded research agencies and universities.

The Division has strategic oversight of the University Research Institutes and collaborative entities including

  • The Cairns Institute
  • Australian Institute of Tropical health and Medicine
  • TropWATER – Tropical Water and Aquatic System Research
  • Australian Tropical Herbarium
  • ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures

The Division also supports JCU’s scholarly research activities, providing a wide range of research services to staff including:
